Tungsten Carbide Button Types and Usage

There are four types of tungsten carbide button, which with different usages as follows: 

1.Tungsten Carbide Spherical/Domed/Round Button

Tungsten carbide spherical/domed/round button are usually used as gauge buttons of DTH Bits, suitable for very abrasive and very hard formations.

2.Tungsten Carbide Parabollic/Semi-Ballistic Button

Tungsten carbide parabollic/semi-ballistic button are usually used as gauge buttons and front buttons of DTH Bits,suitable for medium abrasive and hard formations.

3.Tungsten Carbide Ballistic Button

Tungsten carbide ballistic button are usually used as front buttons of DTH Bits, suitable for medium abrasive and medium hard formations. They also can be used as gauge buttons if the rock is soft.

4.Tungsten Carbide Conical/Cone/Sharp Button

Tungsten carbide conical/cone/sharp button are usually used as front buttons of DTH Bits for soft formations where fast penetration rates are possible and button breakage is minimal.
