Tungsten Carbide Ring

What's the differences between tungsten rings and tungsten carbide rings?
Some of manufacturers sell tungsten rings that do not include carbide. (Some of the retailers still call them tungsten carbide however, so be careful.) A tungsten only ring is basically a steel ring. It is very hard, but NOT scratch proof. A tungsten carbide ring can only be scratched by a diamond or a product containing the mineral corundum.

Hard facts about carbide rings:
1. Tungsten carbide rings are the most wear resistant rings available on the planet.
2. Tungsten is about 10 times harder than gold, 5 times harder than tool steel, and 4 times harder than titanium.
3. Due to their extreme hardness, tungsten carbide rings will hold their shapes and shine longer than any ring on the market.
4. Carbide rings have been referred to as the "Permanently polished rings".
5. Carbide rings will NOT bend.

Tungsten Carbide Nozzle

Tungsten carbide nozzle is made by the precision machining with the tungsten carbide materials (superhard alloy). The hardness reached over HRA90 degree while the anti-bending degree reached over 2300N/mm. On machining tungsten carbide nozzle, we do the precision grinding and surface treatment to achieve Ra0.1 of the bore roughness and the Ra0.025 of the R place of both ends. There is a scientific curvature radius design in the both entrance. This design can ensure a smooth transit of the thread. Due to the overall materials processing, and no elevation in the bore, the phenomenon of easy-bending and plugging has been improved comparing with the ruby nozzle.

Tungsten carbide nozzle is made from hot pressing with straight bore and venturi bore type. Due to its hardness, low density and excellent wear and anti-corrosion, Tungsten carbide nozzle has been widely used in sandblasting and shot peening equipment, offering a long life with optimum air and abrasive use.

Tungsten Carbide Ball


High hardness and dimensional stability make tungsten carbide balls the preferred choice for precision hydraulic valves, high-load bearings, inertial navigation systems, ball screws, linear bearings in slideways, gauging and checking instruments, and meters. Tungsten carbide balls are also used for ballizing, to work-harden and improve fretting fatigue strength.

Tungsten carbide balls are standard for Rockwell testing, and for Brinell testing of materials in the range of 444-627 HB.

Tungsten carbide balls are ideal for applications where extreme hardness must be accompanied by high resistance to wear and impact. They are well-suited to elevated temperatures, corrosion, humidity, abrasion,
and poor lubrication conditions.

Tungsten carbide balls from Hartford are tested using a gage that is accurate to ±0.0001 (grades 10, 15 and 25) to insure conformance with ABMA standards, as well as individual customer quality requirements.

Tungsten Carbide Rod


Tungsten carbide rod is a sintered metallurgical product of powder form. It is manufactured in vacuum or Hydrogen reduction furnace with refractory Tungsten material (WC) micron powder as the main ingredient and Cobalt (Co), Nickel (Ni) or Molybdenum (Mo) as the binder. 

Tungsten carbide rod has many excellent characteristics such as high hardness and strength, good wear and corrosion resistance and salient stability under high temperature (even at 500 oC it is essentially unchanged and at 1000 oC it is still of high hardness). It can be used to cut cast iron, nonferrous metals, plastics, chemical fiber, stainless steel and high Manganese steel, etc., and make drilling tools, mining tools, wear parts, precision bearings, nozzles and metal molds, etc.
